The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) seeks to improve railroad safety and to mitigate the occurrence of railroad crossing incidents within the Authority’s commuter rail network. RND works hand in hand with the MBTA’s Railroad Operations Directorate with the review of the existing railroad signaling and grade crossing warning system training program provided by Keolis Commuter Services (KCS) in order to confirm that maintenance staff have the essential skills and knowledge needed to support the proper testing, troubleshooting, inspection and maintenance of railroad signaling and grade crossing warning systems. The team works toward the goal of identifying opportunities for improvement in relation to policies, procedures, processes, training, communication, and safety culture.
